The Question:
"When I go to parties my makeup never lasts long enough, and
even if it does last till those early hours it never looks anything
close to good. How can I make myself look halfway decent after a
long night of partying?" - Ellisha
Lisa's Answer:
Dear Ellisha,
This is a great question! There are some serious factors to consider
here, i.e. –
-
Getting your skin well hydrated all day prior to the big night out
to give you a head start. Drinking plenty of water (at least 1.5 to
2 litres) and a nice hydrating facial mask like
Mirenesse Power
Lift are a couple of ways of doing this. Don’t forget to drink
plenty of water while you are out as well.
-
Before applying your make up you should use a top quality primer
(such as the
Mirenesse Professional Makeup Base or
Bloom Makeup Base)
which helps even out your skin and provides protection against harsh
environmental factors such as a smoky bar or pub.
-
To make your eye shadow stay put for longer than normal I suggest
using a product from the BeneFit range called “Lemon-Aid’ which is
applied underneath your eye shadow and makes it almost budge proof
(don’t apply on unclean skin or you are sealing in oils and dirt
which will shortly find their way through the Lemon-Aid and defeat
the purpose of it altogether).
-
Carry a light refreshing eye cream such as
Mirenesse Eye
Essence to pat under your eyes when they start to lose their
freshness. This also helps moves concealer out of any creases back
to where it should be. If you have a lot of concealer on then
consider patting on the eye cream and removing any excess concealer
and re-applying a fresh coat (YSL Radiant Touch is perfect for this
and is just gorgeous). Also a drop or two of clearing eye drops
never goes astray in the midst of a big night out – I recommend
‘Eye-lite’ but don’t use them every day unless you want a serious
eye-drop addiction!
-
One last trick I will give you is to take a small facial mist spray,
which should be used once or twice during the night to liven up and
re-hydrate your make-up. Only one or two squirts from a good
distance away so as not to saturate your face. I highly recommend
the Baiame Wild
Rosella Facial Hydrating Mist for this.
-
OK one more trick... don’t use too much powder! Take some blotting
paper (like
Bloom's Blotting Papers) to remove any unwanted shine or oil
from your face.
You won’t have to lug around a huge handbag for these tricks if you
decant small amounts into small containers (like little stackers
from Lincraft) or just buy mini sizes. I hope I have helped you and
I would love to hear how it all goes after your next big night out!
Good luck!!!!
